Large renovation projects entail large unknowns. As construction crews uncover issues, contractors and manufacturers must adjust to new requirements and timelines. Such is the case with Miami Beach Convention Centre’s massive $615 million renovation, which began in 2015. Watson Bowman Acme became involved with MBCC early on, beginning in the specification development stage. With the help of ProCoat, a WBA Independent Manufacturer’s Representative, WBA was specified basis of design and a variety of Wabo® expansion joints were selected from the company’s Architectural and Parking product lines.
As the renovation began, constantly shifting site conditions required rapid responsiveness and flexibility, a trait WBA was happy to deliver by providing regular site visits, technical and customer service assistance and adjustments to product orders. On top of that, MBCC outlined an aggressive construction schedule. To support this, the WBA sales team hosted product training for contractor ISEC at their Tampa location, and WBA’s in-house engineers assisted design and construction teams by providing shop drawings detailing unique joint transitions on MBCC. By providing these services, WBA continues to earn it’s tagline as “Your Strongest Partner for Expansion Joint Systems & Responsible Solutions.”
